Get Real With Yourself & Grow!

Dear Hearts, we have been focusing this month on “transformation” and as the month comes to an end, I pray that you understand that real change always comes from within. All changes or efforts for changes within oneself must be undertaken from within, that is very consciously at a soul level. You must get real with yourself to be who you want to be. It is never too late to live a life that you are proud of. Have the courage to start over. You may say that starting over is hard, but I know from experience that sometimes you must start over with a change of mind and a new way of thinking.

“Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think”. ~Romans 12.2 NLT

The bible has taught me that you can’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but you must allow God to transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. You will learn to know God’s will for your life and understand what is good and pleasing and perfect. I have come to understand growth from a totally different perspective as I have gotten real with myself these last five years. Growth requires a commitment to grow. You must want to grow, decide to grow, and try to grow. Spiritual growth begins with a decision. It doesn’t have to be a complex decision, but it does have to be sincere. Yes, God has a part in our growth but so do we. We must make an intentional effort to grow.

Ladies and gentlemen, spiritual growth requires a plan because so many people grow older without ever growing up; they act as though spiritual growth is automatic. We must spend quiet time daily studying the Word and through prayer. It is vital to our lives that we know how to study the Bible and relate it to our everyday life. This can feel intimidating but there are many tools to studying the bible with biblical apps, bible courses online, small groups, and one on one mentoring from mature bible teachers.

As you get real with yourself, know that things happen in our lives all the time that we don’t know why, but I encourage you to not give up as you continue your journey of transformation. Get rid of the comforting lies and the unpleasant truths as you move forward. Trust the process and know God’s time is always the best.

A few great resources to help you overcome stagnation and to process God’s transformation is the Anxiety Journal and Overcoming Fear With Faith! Not only are they tools I use on the daily basis still, but they will help you face the real you. Face your fears and learn to walk in the boldness God wants you to have!
